Double Review

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012)
****
I love Steve Carell. He may be a little overrated, but what he does, he does well. What I mean by that is he has built up a style of character that will always be defined in my mind as the Steve Carell role. He keeps his standard role in this film, but also adds a little bit of romance. Keira Knightly has a very jolly go-lucky attitude that doesn't copy over very much to her pirate role. I personally believe that both of the lead roles did really well. Now, the story was very...forgettable. I loved all of the jokes and the quirkiness of the romance, but it's not near as memorable as I'd like it to be. The music was, as far as I was concerned, very well picked. None of the music seemed out of place. This movie just came out and the whole concept of the film was outstanding. Overall, I'd say it was a very good film, but I wouldn't pay to see it another time.

The Prestige (2006)
*****
Before I say anything of huge worth, I'd like to admit that this movie kept me thoroughly entertained. I'm always a Hugh Jackman fan and the magician is a good look for him, but honestly, I went up to the movie planning on seeing an intense war film. When I think Prestige, I think military, but this movie changed my thoughts. I think it will be several days before I fully understand this film. The story was an outrageous tale going back and forth and I loved it incredibly. This was a film that didn't really have one straight storyline. This movie jumped around in time from the current time to the past. This story really makes you think and the ending just...I personally loved the role Michael Cane played in the film. The music played really well. The only thing that I would say was bad was that the characters mumbled too often for me to understand. I would love to see this again.
